Dr. Victoria Shedrick

Hi there! I'm Dr. Victoria Shedrick, but most of my clients call me "Dr. V".

I'm the founder of Key Counseling, Coaching and Consulting - and an advocate at heart!

Through two decades in mental health and social services, I’ve spent my career walking alongside individuals, families, and professionals navigating systems that often overlook their voices.

I built this practice in 2018 with a clear mission: to provide culturally sensitive, compassionate, trauma-informed care that uplifts, empowers, and honors the lived experiences of marginalized communities.

While I’ve stepped away from clinical counseling, my passion for helping and healing remains the driving force behind everything I do. Today, I focus on:

Conducting immigration evaluations that reflect not only clinical expertise but also cultural understanding and deep empathy

Coaching and mentoring therapists as they grow into ethical, confident professionals

Consulting with schools, agencies, and organizations to create trauma-informed, equity-centered systems of care

My work is grounded in advocacy, justice, and a belief that everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and supported — especially in the moments that matter most. Whether I’m mentoring a new therapist, consulting on systemic change, or helping someone tell their story through an immigration evaluation, I bring my full heart, clinical insight, and commitment to ethical excellence.

This isn’t just what I do. It’s my purpose.

NOTE: Dr. V is no longer accepting clients for therapy.  She is, however, continuing to offer immigration evaluations plus clinical supervision and coaching services to fellow therapists.

Testimonials

Make sure to deliver the best experience - here are some of the great things our clients say...

"What I enjoyed most in working with Dr. Shedrick was her relatability. Being able to talk to someone who's 'been there, done that' and understood things from my perspective, was a blessing. In the beginning, of course I was weary because it was someone new but as time went on, she provided me with the security to open up, be comfortable and be myself. She didn't provide me with definitive answers to my problems but encouraged me, helped me and allowed me to find solutions to issues that helped me find peace and mental stability and for that I am forever grateful. I appreciate her and her efforts in working with me. Still to this day, I am able to apply the advice that she has provided me with and I know that I will continue to use that advice in many situations to come."

"I had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Shedrick speak at a black history month program in Columbia, S.C. Her speech was remarkable and resonated with me, so that I felt as if she was directly speaking to me. After hearing her speak and being moved by her speech, I reached out to her. I asked her to speak at my non-profit cancer support organization virtual mental health talk. She agreed and the talk was amazing. She created a safe space and made a real true connection with our viewers. Our viewers were very engaged with her and asked some hard personal questions. This was important as it led to understanding and education which was the purpose of the mental health talk. Dr. Shedrick is phenomenal at her profession and our organization was blessed to have her speak at our virtual event.”

"Working under her supervision has been nothing short of divine alignment. Our connection was destiny—I would not be the counselor I am today without her prayers, guidance, and unwavering support. She helped me not only meet the clinical requirements but grow into my calling as a counselor. Her supervision is more than professional; it’s spiritual. She sees what’s hidden, hears what’s unspoken, and provides insight that transforms both the clinician and the clients served. I often say, “It’s not just supervision, it’s spiritual,” because that’s the truth. Even after I completed my hours, I didn’t want to let go. I knew I was covered—my clients were covered—by one of God’s most gifted helpers. She consistently pointed me back to God, reminding me that it was His work through her, and that same God would walk with me into full licensure. Now, fully licensed, she still meets with me regularly to support my growth and offer wisdom. I’m grateful for every kind word clients share with me, but that gratitude is truly a testament to the impeccable, spirit-led supervision I’ve received."

“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and working alongside Dr. Victoria Shedrick for over 25 years in both professional and personal capacities. As an attorney and former judge, I’ve witnessed her commitment to integrity, compassion, and excellence firsthand — particularly during our time together at Probate Court, where she served as a Mental Health Court Coordinator. Her deep understanding of mental health, combined with her clear communication and unwavering ethical standards, make her an invaluable resource in complex legal matters that intersect with behavioral health. I have consulted with her professionally and have every confidence in her clinical insight and judgment. Any client or legal professional who chooses to work with Dr. Shedrick can be assured of both competence and care.”
